WEEK 4

On Thursday 24, we did an English exam, and we hope to have a nice exam grade. Unai and Adrian had work hard for this exam, because their English is not the best one. We continued texting if all the models we programmed before, were working correctly, and yes they were. Also we had been investigating about the OB100, that is a startup. ¿What does this mean? It is a program that only launches once (at the beginning), when we start the process. Finally we finished the day investigating about the MPI comunications.

On Friday 25, we started with comunications exercises, but it had been a fail. We didn't understand it very well and we also didn't know how to do it. But finally, we started doing the organization chart of all the models, and we finished two of them. Aritz, continued with the OB100, and he finished but we didn't know if it runs correctly, because sometimes it didn't launch at the beginning. Finally,we tried to connect the models with a PROFIBUS connection.

On Monday 28, we had continued with comunications exercises, and we also finished the organization chart of the third model, so there is one more left. Andoni started with the HMI, but we discovered, that we didn't have the license to connect it to the computer or to the models. We were having a lot of issues to connect the computer with the PLC's and this had delayed us a long time. Also, we have to mention that some cables, that we use to the MPI connection, they don't run correctly.

On Tuesday 29, we had continued with comunications exercises, but we were starting to find difficulties, we didn't think that it would be so difficult and that we didn't going to need so many time, but hopefully we are learning a lot in this challenge. We also saw a fail in the model 0. We will comunicate to Andoni to check it, because is his model. We have finished the first exercise of comunications. In the last hour, Adrian, Xabier, and Unai had been writing the blog of the previous days, while Aritz and Andoni went to dual.

On Wednesday 30, we have been doing other comunications exercises. Adrian, Xabier, and Unai have been doing the Global Dates, donde they have had a lot of problems, so they didn't finish it. Andoni and Aritz have been connecting two models through PROFIBUS connection, but unfortunately they didn't get it. Tomorrow we will see the English exams.

WEEK 3

On Thursday 17, we have started the day with English class, and we have done several exercises, listenings, writings...After that we have continued with our challenge, that we started two days ago. We continued doing a Word document, where we have to search information about network conexions. The teacher has been speaking with us about the idea of the challenge, and he explained us the different gadgets we need to use and how their work.

On Friday 18, Unai and Xabier started with de 6th model. It is very simple, a robotic arm has to carry a piece from the initial position to the final position. The programming was not too difficult, but it was a bit long. Aritz was ill that day and he didn't come, but Adrian and Andoni started doing some exercises about PLC's, during this challenge apart from the 4 different models we have to do some extra exercises. In this video we can see the running of the model 6.

On Monday 21, Andoni started with his model, the number 0. There are 4 different cylinders and the piece has to move from the initial pisition to the final position, when the presence sensor activates. This model was more difficult than the previous one. Xabier and Unai started investigating the 2th model, and Adrian finished the exercises, and he started with Aritz programming the 4th model. In this video we can see the running of the model 0.

 

On Tuesday 22, Adrian and Aritz started the 4th model, but in the beginning they had some problems with the computer and the programm, so they move to other computer and they finally started working. The model has to bring one piece from the initial position to the final position, it was a bit confusing because at first we didn't know how to programm the initial position, but after being trying all the day, we finally finished. Andoni, Unai and Xabier were investigating the final model to start with it next day. In this video we can see the running of the model 4.

On Wednesday 23, Unai and Xabier started with the final model, we find it easy comparing to the other ones. The only problem we had was that a cylinder was broke and we had to repair it. The model consist on two cylinders that have to move a piece sucking out with air, the main condition was that if the sensor does not activate, the process can't continue. Adrian was ill and he didn't come to class, while Aritz and Andoni started with the HMI, that we have to program for the next days. In this video we can see the running of the model 2.

WEEK 2

This week we haven't done a lot of things. On Thursday, we introduce the final project to be evaluated. We hope to have a good mark, because we have done all the tasks we could. However, there was one thing that we couldn't be able to connect, that thing was the servomotor. We didn't have the licenses and the knowledge to complete it.

On Friday, we divided in two turns to do an exam about the challenge.The exam was about a car garage, with two different sensors, two counters, a motor, and finally a key to activated the garage door. The exam had a big difficulty, the time. It was so long and we only had three hours to complete it.

Then the weekend come to us, and we enjoy it because of San Faustos 2019. Aritz and Adrian drunk to much, and Unai and Xabier stay at home like a very responsable students. On Monday, we had holiday and we didn´t come to class.

On Tuesday, we pass the check list where the teachers saw our work during the challenge, we luckly get a 10 out of 10. Then after this, we started preparing the presentation of the challenge to show and explain properly our project to other groups.We finnaly had success and our classmates understood all the project.

Today, on Wednesday the other groups have finished theirs presentations. After that the teacher ask us to make an exercise in TIA Portal V13. It has been so easy, and we have finished the exercise. Finally, we have rotated to the 5th challenge. And we have started to do some exercises of Moodle.
Apart from that, when we start doing Moodle exercises, we have seen that there are a lot of things to search on Internet. We have a lot of parameters, definitions... and we didn´t know how to do it. Moreover, when we have started with this challenge, the group that was before as, they have erased all the programming of this PLCs, so we have nothing.

This 2 days of the week, we have to finish with moodle exercises to start with the comunications of the three PLCs. Previously, we have commented that the other group have erased all the programmig, but also they have disconnected all wires. In our opinion, we think that there is not right, because when they started with this challenge, they had something programmed.

WEEK 1

This week we have done a lot of things. Our challenge is about programming a screen called HMI_NA5 that is a screen from the company called Omrom. With this screen, we have to do basically 2 things. On the one hand, we have to put a lot of different parametres of a electric motor and a servomotor. On the other hand, we have to be able to modificate this parameters by this type of screen.

The first days we spend a lot of time doing exercises in the computer and programming some PLCs. First problems came when we try to connect the PLC with the computer. We were not able to connect because some parameters of the PLC were wrong. Andoni and Adrian spend a lot of time trying to do some exercises that were explained in moodle, but this explication was too bad. Because of that, they waste a lot of time watching videos in youtube, trying to find some information. While Unai and Xabier were doing some exercises about a variable frequency drive, Aritz started trying to connect the screen with the PLC. This one was too difficult, but he finally got it.

Another problem started when Andoni and Adrian finished they work and they tried to see if all the exercises were done well or bad. Apart from that, the explications that were in the first page, were so bad. Furthermore, when Unai and Xabier started programming the PLC, they saw that the PLC that we had wasn´t the same of the manual of moodle. For that reason, we knew that the parameters that we had were differents, so that´s a big problem.

While Aritz were connecting all the components of the program, he saw that the license of the Omron program was very old and it was expired. So Javi gave us a new license to be able to connect all the things properly. Once we get the last version of the programm in our three computers, in that moment we were ready to connect the programm from the computer to the other gadjets, such as the HMI_NA5 screen, the frecuency variator...etc. Unai and Xabier finished the frecuency variator exercises, and they started with the second task that was about programming the final challenge. At this moment of the challenge Aritz finished comunicating the computer with the other gadjets.

Finally, after been trying to connect all the gadjets several times, we got everything to work. Also we add some improvemets to the process, for example a laser, three counters, and some pilots.
